Why do you add another page to the internet universe...???

Why?

It is true that the Internet offers almost a Billion pages (or maybe today even more) so why adding another one? Everyone offering another page should really much more aware about what is happening on the web. We all know that this is almost impossible... but I an truly convinced that there is really a lack of comprehensive information about the iMac and especially all kind of music related stuff.

So why writing another bundle of pages? When I started to work with the iMac - actually a gift for my wife for X-mas 98 (- as I am working in the world of Wintel Computers myself -) I was a litte bit disappointed. Not by the iMac itself - really a sophisticated PPC and it was easy to find out that it contains a very good soundcard that is capable of not only recording and playback of countless tracks at the same time (full duplex) but even with different programs!.
There are many cards that cost you more than even a a brand new 333 Mhz machine and that are not capable of the last.

So this was such a fantastic computer and the Mac for me was the specialist in music and arts, and now I had to hear out there were "real Macs with SCSSI, Soundcards, ADB, Midi" and the new one that seem to be not compatible with all the music software and, compared with the uge win-based market of software there seemed to be hardly anything for low-budget homerecording, musical self tuition, printing your music, whatever. Calling music shops that sell Macs was not too promising as well, they were even concerned about the new G3 blue and whites without all the old ADB SCSSI whatever stuff.

Late 98 the first iMacs, the revision B (with the Mezzanite Slot, SCSI cards are still available) were out on the market but there was not much information what to do with these computers, not only in Germany. Even the manufactures of Hard- and Softwares missed this huge gap in the market, there was not much avaible for the USB, floppyless machines, some very old shareware, but little or no explanation how to use this wonderful machines for music. Today this improves radically but even without all that add-ons you can do a lot on the iMac.
The lack of knowledge about this fantastic computer is shocking. I am used to the fact that today no one really can keep track on what happens in the rapidly changing world of soft- and hardware (the Wintel world is even worse in this perspective) but even in computer magazines the knowledge about these questions is fairly rudimental. While the professional graffic world and the professional recording world has not much in common with the low budget homerecorder it is a surprise that also the average iMac user seems not to have much interest concerning music (or is that not true)?
So - this is the page to share ideas, encourage people to use one of the first beautiful computer I evers saw on earth (seen!) to make music, to explore the possibilities of recording either "handmade" music or to work with "experimental" approaches to sampling, sound synthesis etc. Also the iMac is ideal for the music teacher and learner .
This is also pure hypertext without much expensive (its your online-time!) pictures, tricky frames, as also already the sponsors of this pages add enough coulourful stuff to this information. You may want to add comments to the guestbook, also I will answer every question posted to me somewhere here...
